RIGA, 18 Dec: Pasighat (East Siang)-based School of Horticulture & Forestry (CHF), in collaboration with the Higher Siang district agriculture division, launched a millet cultivation undertaking in distant Riga village in Higher Siang district on Thursday.
The undertaking is sponsored by the ICAR-run Indian Institute of Millets Analysis (IIMR), Hyderabad, to extend millet manufacturing within the northeastern area.
CHF Agronomy Professor Dr Paban Kumar Gaudar stated the target of the undertaking is to popularize millet cultivation in Arunachal.
“We’re working to make the farmers conscious that millet is a staple meals and business cultivation of the cereal crop is very helpful,” Gaudar stated.
The scientist noticed that millet cultivation in Arunachal covers solely 20-30 % of the cropped space. The undertaking goals to extend the speed to 70 to 80 %.
